Takdah, meaning 'mist' in Lepcha, was once an early 20th-century British military cantonment. Orchid Heritage Homestay is one of the grandest surviving stone bungalows of that era, lovingly conserved by the Pradhan family. Enclosed by the tea gardens of Rangli Rangliot and Glenburn, the estate features vintage stone fireplaces and manicured hydrangeas.

A journey back in time

The historical architecture and mist rolling into the veranda made this our best Himalayan stay. The tea garden trail directly behind the bungalow is spectacular.
